Frequently (And Not So Frequently) Asked Questions

  1. What does Ekoni mean?

We made it up. We needed a short word, as when texting people, we've only got 160 characters to play with, so the shorter the better. And ekoni.com is pretty short. It's also got the word "eco" in it (sort of).

  2. Can I get an email and a text message sent?

Certainly. You can send one or the other, or both. If you just want to give the details yourself, enter your own email address in the recipients box as well, and you'll receive the card code.

  3. How long will my card stay online?

At least a year, we're hoping to keep all cards on indefinitely, unless you want to delete it yourself.

  4. How much do they cost?

The cards cost £4.00 each (approximately 7.80 USD or 5.80 Euros). And no postage or packaging costs either :)

  5. Do trees benefit the environment? I heard they gave off methane, which is a greenhouse gas.

Yes, most definitely, trees are brilliant for the environment. They convert our carbon dioxide to oxygen. That story about methane - the authors of the study were a bit annoyed about how the media tried to twist the story.

  6. When do you plant the trees?

Our planting season is November to April. This is called the bare root season.

  7. What sort of trees are you planting?

This will depend on the location in which the planting occurs. All will be broad leafed deciduous. Have a look at the trees section to see what we are doing.

  8. I can't view my card!

In order to view your card, you need to have Macromedia/Adobe Flash player installed, which you can get at the Adobe Flash Player page for free. If you are unable to get the player, you can still view the content of the card by following the link underneath the card which will show you the contents of the card in HTML format.
